Drawing Layer color - change

I'm trying to quickly change the color of few dimensions (text and dimension lines) in the drawing ( Inventor 2021 )

In the drawing I go to Edit Layer, select Layer Dimension , click New

Change the appearance of the New Layer to Red

Save and Close.

I the drawing I select dimensions I want to change the color, and change the Layer of the dimensions to the New Layer.

The color of the dimensions doesn't change .

I can change the color of text center lines, lines..... why I can't change the color of the dimensions?

You need a new Dimension style, not a new Layer style. The color of the dimension lines is defined by the dimension style (By Layer is the default), and the color of the dimension text is defined by the associated text style, so you'll need a new one of those, also.

In previous versions of Inventor I used Layers to change the color of the dimensions.

There were some changes?

My apologies, nothing has changed, and it works for me exactly as you want it to in Inventor 2021.

I created a new Layer copied from Dimension (ANSI) named Dimension (ANSI) Red, and made the color red. Then I selected a dimension, and in the Layers drop-down, selected (instead of Default) the new layer. Now the dimension is red.

I wonder why yours doesn't work that way?

Hmmm.... while ago I created new company Standard Style....

I copied Default Standard (ANSI) and made some changes there for our company. (Dim, txt, Balloons....)

Changing dim color with Layer works with Default Standard (ANSI), but not with my new copy of Default Standard (ANSI)

Do you know what can affect that it is not working?

Do I have to redo all that work?

OK... I got it!

Dimension Style - Display - color....check box "By Layer"

Text Style which is used in dimension - color.... check box "By Layer"

This set-up fixed it.
