Hi, I import Revit model in assembly by using the place button/ import CAD button.

When import model at the first time (in a new assembly file) the Inventor coordinate stay the same (Z axis pointing forward) and view cube rotated( top view on the Z axis). 2nd import: Delete imported model or Ctrl+Z re-import the model again coordinate rotated (Z axis point up which what I'm looking for) and view cube stay back to inventor default orientation. Is this behaver weir? Is there and way to tell Inventor to always import Revit in certain orientation? Thanks

1st import:

2nd Import:

Really interesting! when following up the workflow you described below, the behavior is consistent in my environment. Is there any key step I need to take care of here?

Hi, Yijiang

I can't think of any key steps other than place component. Restart PC any try again this morning work find(Z point up) at the first import only. Problem persist after first import even restart Inventor. Try different Revit model still same happen. When using Open>Import CAD File. behaver is consistent. This really look like a bug to me.

Revit Model 2021

Inventor Version:

Hi! Please check the ViewCube setting in Tools -> App Options -> Display -> ViewCube -> make sure the default Front View and Top View are set desirably.

Also, please share your standard iam file here. It is possible there is a bit inconsistency between the settings.

Many thanks!

Could you share the IAM template with us but not IPT? We would like to look into the settings in your template as the template will be used for RVT file imported here.

Hi, I just found out view cube set up at the beginning of a new assembly file may cause this behavior. I have habit to click on the home view to bring me an isometric view before I place anything. The Z up orientation become consistent once I import Revit model before set to cube home view. You can see video for what's happening:

https://youtu.be/HwmGuYJwVTs

Hi! If you like Z-up (top) based isometric view, you may need to redefine the Home View in the template files. One thing you may also wan to change is the origin plane visibility in the part template file. If there are no planes visible, when you try to place the first sketch, the view will rotate to Y-Up automatically. Currently, there is no option to control the behavior except making origin planes visible.

Many thanks!
