      <title>Truncated Cone Development</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi all inventor users world wide.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm sure lots of you have already done this many times before&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I need you to share with me how you develop a truncated cone using inventor sheet metal.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;In the days before computers, on the drawing board, I used to do this from first principles.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have long ago forgotten that, and could look it up again in my old books and notes.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;However there is no point these days, as the software now does everything for you, you no longer&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;have to think or know first principles!!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;See attached. &lt;P&gt;1st principle, the edges should be perpendicular to the flat (yours are not).&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;One of the 4 rules of sheet metal.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Mike,&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;This case should have been done using Lofted Flange -&amp;gt; Rip. Or, Loft (surface) -&amp;gt; Thicken -&amp;gt; Rip. The Solid Loft may not yield the perfect geometry required to unfold.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;There are several ways you can model this.&amp;nbsp; Revolved a surface, Thickened, then generated the flat.&amp;nbsp; If you do not revolve the full 360°, then you do not have to split it.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
