3/4 SECTION VIEW ON DRAWING

I've made a 3/4 section in the IAM and have saved it as a Design View Rep. When I place this View Rep onto a drawing it shows as not sectioned. I quizzed my reseller about this who came back with "can't be done on the IDW". Is this correct? Seems like a large limitation of modern CAD software. Using 2021.

Only way I can think to do this is to put that assembly into a brand new assembly.

Draw a sketch and use extrude to do the cutaway.

Put that new assembly into the drawing.

This way you don't alter the original assembly which might be used elsewhere.

I recommend that you find a new reseller.

You create the section view in the idw.

If you can't figure it out - then Attach a sample data set here for demonstration.

I was thinking he wanted the section to show on all his placed views, but I think you're right, it does just need a simple section view!

Create a section

create a projected view from that section.

If you don't want the steps to be shown you can hide them off the side of the page.

Hi! I guess the request here is about the ability to transfer model section view (graphics) to drawing. That workflow is indeed missing. It is not doable. You need to create a separate quarter section in drawing as usual. There isn't a link between model section view and drawing section view.

This is what I was after. A Design View Rep placed onto the IDW as shown in the model.

I'm aware that I can do workarounds and put views off the sheet and such. Juts don't want too when the requirement works in the model but not in the drawing.
