Well, I can provide the excel files that show the difference between the two versions, if that would help.

Assembly 750-400-173 was exported April 21, 21 with Inventor 2020, assembly 750-100-123 was exported June 7, 21 using Inventor 2022. What you should see is on the previous BOM, the Unit QTY has a numeric value, on the latter BOM both the Base Unit and the Unit QTY have the same value. That is unless the part is measured in inches, then they show different values.

I can send you PnG of the models if that would be helpful but our developer has already modified our ERP BOM macro so the issue is moot for us.

Thanks

Hello,

I'm writing again because we've run up against another change in Inventor 2022. We export our assembly bom's to excel to import into our ERP system. We're running into a format problem and it seems like the format has changed in IV 2022 from 2020.

Can anyone confirm that a change was made by Autodesk to the assembly bom? I didn't see anything listed in the 'What's new' but maybe I missed something.

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

Are you using Model States (non-Master)? Could you be more specific on format change?

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

I'm not using model states. The difference is in the Unit QTY. Previously in 2020 the Unit QTY would show a numeral, now in 2022 it shows Each. Which seems to be a duplicate of the Base Unit.

But, now that you've asked me about the model states, that would explain why there is a change in the BOM format. I'm assuming that depending on the model state, the BOM will show different information.

We made the assumption that it was a change made by Autodesk and asked our ERP developer to modify our macro to accommodate the new excel format.

We'll have to keep an eye on any of the assemblies that use model states and see if that affects our BOM macro.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi John,

In terms of Model States, the only impact is to quantity, not format. On prior releases, LOD suppressed components are still included in the BOM, because there is only one BOM. Now, each Model State can have its own quantity, properties, parameters and so on.

Regarding the format change, the behavior you described sounds like a bug to me. Please share an example here or send it to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!
