Hi Everyone,

I'm wanting to try and replicate an 'Easter Egg' crackled pattern texture onto a revolved egg shape in inventor (that's what use at work). I've attached an image of the sort of cracked texture we'd like to apply and I wondering what are the best methods of achieving something like this? If it isn't achievable in inventor and may need alternate software, could anyone let me know their thoughts on what would be best to use?

Thanks in advance!

Rob

You need photoshop ideally.

Or you could draw something like that in autocad and then use it as a bump map to create all the ridges.

Makes sure that whatever you draw 'tiles' i.e. the lines that run off the left of the pattern join up with the lines on the right, or it will looks daft in your final product.

Google "Seamless cracked texture" and find/acquire the image you want..

Create a new appearance using that as the bumpmap image or whatever to achieve the look you are after.

This good enough?

It uses a standard image from the Inventor library so you don't have to worry about it not showing up for other users.

Selected a colour, added a bump map and changed the image to 2inches instead of 12.

I used C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\2\Mats\Sitework.Paving & Surfacing.Riverstone.Mortared.Blue.bump

File attached as well so you can see what I did.

If you mess about with the glossyness and stuff you can get it looking better.
