Use this constraint to get your lines to be parallel.

If they wont move, you may have to press F8 to show all current constraints and delete the ones stopping you from rotating the sketch to be parallel.

Something tells me there's something wrong with the rest of the model if those sides are not straight with the origin though.

You are right, they arent, good eye...

How can I prevent this, its not first time this happend? It doesnt make much sence to me, I would have to rotate one of those parts by minuscule angle to get those dimension differences. Never happend in Inventor2021 just in 2022.

Thank you

Its basically box and lid for electronics that I modeled, the electronic components like PSU and cards were imported and assambled after I modeled the box to see if they fit. I didnt rotate anything by 0.000x deg, when I rotate something its usually 90deg or something similar, never 0.000xdeg

There's something not right with your box.

Is that an assembly in your video?

Is your box the original grounded component?

Few things here. If you put the PCB in first and then mated the box to it, your PCB could be causing it to not be straight.

Is your box definitely perfectly square, if it's only out by a tiny bit you will miss this due to rounding. Use the measure tool and set it to all decimals and check all your edges. Check they are square to your UCS as well.

If you've got any lofts or sweeps or projections or other geometry that could cause this also check them.

Hi! I suspect there is minor imprecision here. You may consider bump up dimension precision. The minor imprecision might be smaller than the display precision, so they are not shown. Go to Tools -> Doc settings -> Units -> make display precision for both Linear and Angular very high.

You will see the two lines are not perfectly parallel. Inventor 2D sketch is accurate up to 0.000000001mm.

Many thanks!

Well, ok, but Im not building a spaceship, where microscopic dimensions are necessary, I set it to 3 decimal points, thinking this would suffice for my work ( still a bit too much tho). How can I prevent this? All I need is a rectangle to be paraller to another rectangle.

Hi! Inventor tries to create perfect geometry regardless of your application. As a tool, it does not have flexible tolerance depending on input geometry.

To avoid it from happening, you will need to check if the geometry is valid and tightly constrained. Otherwise, the imprecision can accumulate and lead to downstream failures (sketching, assembly constraining, and so on).

Many thanks!
