Converting Assembly to STP

Hi,

I've recieved this assembly model of a forklift. I'm trying to save it as seperate STP file.

To double check i re-open/import the stepfile into Inventor, but when it's fully loaded it's not there.

I've added it as attachment, can anyone tell me how to do this?

An assembly must have parts.

Did you Attach that Zijlader.ipt file here?

Think of the assembly as mailing a check (old fashioned way).

You sent the envelope (the *.iam file), but you forgot to send the check (*.ipt file).

My bad, I've attached it now. It seems to be a 'mesh' type of file, i've never worked with these before.

I need a solid STP file as output. I tried mesh converter but it doesn't work.

Before I spend time on this - why do you need as solid STP?

Do you have the STL file?

Step won't convert the type of geometry. Just output what you have.

If you need the item to be solid, you need to make it solid inside inventor.

This is usually achieved with stitch, but yours looks like it may be too complicated for that.

Your file is still empty because I assume you have converted an STL or other file into inventor, but not broken the link so all I see is the derived icon and no geometry.

These files will be used in a web platform CAD viewer.

Depending on selection choices in the web platform, a certain model will show in the viewer, the others will be hidden.

This viewer can only import STP files.

I have about 6 models i need to put into one assembly, 'zijlader' is one of them.

I added the file i recieved, the party that supplied this doesn't have the file in any other format. I know the file i added is already in STP format with all the models inside it, but i need to make some adjustments.

stl mesh is a rubbish format for this use.

You will have to start over from scratch or get proper geometry from the source.

I thought I better check back and make sure there isn't a confusion about file extensions *.stp and *.stl

You must have *.stp correct, NOT *.stl?

That is correct, i need the files in .stp
