how to extrude a circular Pattern on a curved side Surface

I am looking if someone can tell me the instructions:

-I am working on a coin redesign concept

-I want to paste an extruded circular pattern of the dollar Sign Symbol around the curved side surface of a random coin.

-I have looked everywhere but can not find the right solutions

Could somebody help me how i can achieve this.

Yes that would be awesome if i could do that, but the problem is that i can not sketch anything on a round side surface of it. on the plan surface it would work fine

You need to make a new plane tangential to the curve.

Then create a new 3d sketch and use project to surface to put the sketch on the curve.

There are various ways to extrude it from here. Try emboss as a starter.

I am getting an error that says: Emboss Failed: the profiles extend outside the body?

is there a way to adjust the work plane equal to the surface so i will not extent it?

Hi @Anonymousl,

This is specifically to do with your sketch, in that it goes beyond the solid, see below:

The produces the same error 'Emboss Failed: the profiles extend outside the body?'

The way to correct this is to move the sketch profile within the solid, which for me would be the grey stripe.

Can you upload what you have done so far?

Turn on the Visibility of one of the Origin planes.

Select Plane and click and drag offset plane from the Origin plane.

Yes it has worked out for me, but i have a related question on the topic. now I want to paste the extruded pattern on the side surface of the part i have attached in the attachment.

I am getting stuck at the following things:

-Which Patern type should i use?

-I was thinking to merge the faces so i would be easier to paste the pattern on it.

-I am getting stuck because the 3 different faces that i can not select with the pattern.

-the round surface have been created with a filet

Could you advise what the best idea would be.

so the core core question is more how i can paste a extruded pattern on the side because it have 3 independant faces. When I try to use a circular pattern it only let me select one face in stead of all 3

I do not see your *.ipt file Attached.

I do not see extruded pattern on the side of any of your 3 independent faces.

Circular Pattern would not make logical sense. This would be a curve driven pattern or possibly some other technique depending on the geometry to pattern. (Emboss-Wrap, 3D Sketch Wrap)
