Hi, my 3ds Max has a problem during installation where it says "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.", when installing Autodesk Material Library 2016. I also like to add that I have read many forums with similar problems and tried different solutions to get this problem fixed. They are;

1. Install Windows 10 to it's latest update and try installing again.

2. Download the 3ds Max 2016 files through Autodesk Virtual Agent.

3. Install AIDA (Autodesk Installation Diagnostic Assistant) and run it after installing 3ds Max to fix the problem.

I have tried these 3 methods and still the error occurred. I do not have any antivirus installed other than Windows Defender. I'll attach the .zip file I received from AIDA in the post as well. Hopefully this problem could be fixed as soon as possible.

@Anonymous

Your information or log info in your original posting is showing 2 things..

1. You don't have the proper permission to read/write to crucial location and registry entries. So make sure you have full access to your machine.

2. The installation is failing on replacing the 2016 material library. So I would suggest at this point, performing a clean uninstall per these instructions. Make sure to follow the Microsoft Fixit steps and also make sure to adjust settings if you have other Autodesk products already installed/working on your machine. One final thing with Fixit, you need to run it for each application that you have to uninstall.

Then run your installation again. Good luck and report back on your progress.
