Recently Windows did one of its automatic updates. Ever since I can no longer run AutoCAD. I get the error message “C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\VCOMP140.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original media or contact your system administrator software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f.” I did a clean uninstall and downloaded a new copy using the Autodesk Virtual Agent, but I still get the same error message. Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

I didn't mean to post the same thing twice. Sorry about that, I'm a Newbie!I figured that it was a Windows problem since it started right after a Windows update. I contacted Microsoft Technical Support. They had me try various things and finally decided that we should reinstall Windows from scratch. Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem. In addition I now can't reset Windows to a previous configuration!I really don't understand what the problem might be though since I now have a clean installation of the latest version of both Windows and AutoCAD!Do you have any other suggestions? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you very much; it worked!I have just one more question: I downloaded the 64-bit version which has two parts. The instructions tell you to download both parts but then tells you only to run the first part. That doesn't seem to make sense. Should I be running the second part as well?

Thanks a million, Mr. Lancaster. I had the same exact issue with my AutoCAD 2018 after installing a recent update from Microsoft on Windows 10. Followed your above well written direction and got everything to work once again. I had to call Support desk though, to get a product key, as I was not given a product key at the time of initial installation(I was given an activation code, instead).

Just wanted to state too that Microsoft Fit it(or whatever the latest name is), did not find any issues to fix in my system.

Cheers
