We have a number of BDSP installations. We have recently acquired several AEC desktop licenses. Some of my users would like to convert from a BDSP to an AEC license because of the additional software in the AEC license.

Has anyone determined how to convert these licenses, or is my only option to uninstall all BDSP software and reinstall the same software as the AEC license?

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. Our BDSP licenses are not network based and we pay yearly for the subscription, so I believe they are indeed perpetual. I can imagine that there are a lot of users that will be switching from one licensing structure to another, so I would hope that Autodesk would put out a tool to help with this. Not having to uninstall/reinstall Revit and Autocad on lots of machines would be a very good thing.

Hello @Mark.Lancaster,

These instructions apply to 2017 product. If you are dealing with older versions you will have to uninstall and reinstall the products for the collection or if you have activation issues.

For the products in the collection you can reset the licensing so when you launch the products you can activate them with your new collection credentials/information.

License Reset for 2017 products & up:

Close your Autodesk program.

Delete the three (3) files prefixed with Adskflex from the following folder:

C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\

Note: The above files are Hidden files. You may need to enable Show Hidden Files in Folder options.

Locate the following folder:

C:\User\username\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ADUT

Rename this folder to: ADUT2

Browse to the following folder:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<product key>_<product version>

In this folder, do one of the following:

Open the LGS.DATA file, change the value to _USER OR _STANDALONE , and save the file.

or

Delete the contents of the folder.

When you launch your Autodesk software, you will be logged in automatically, you will be prompted to log in or you input your Serial Number & Product key.

Please "Accept As Solution" if a reply has helped resolved the issue or answered your question, to help others in the community.

Natasha,

On machines that only have the BDSP applications installed, under the folder "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS," only the 765I1_2017.0.0.F folder exists; which is the "Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2017" folder. There are no license folders for each software. This indicates to me that individual softwares do not have their own license codes when installed as part of the BDSP. As such, I suspect that I cannot reset the license code.

Is this correct?

Steve

Re: Convert from BDSP to AEC Desktop

@SteveFong

You can only accomplish this with NETWORK licenses... Since you have Standalone seats of BDSP, you'll need to uninstall and install each application independently that the user want access to. For example, if the user need Revit, Civil 3D, & Navisworks then you'll need to download and install them 1 by 1 using the individual product keys for each.

i.e. AutoCAD product key would be 001I1 for 2017 and 001J1 for 2018...

Why, you asked? Because the standalone applications on those machines are installed with the BDSP Product Key and BDS does not cascade into Collections. Therefore the collection license doesn't understand or know what application to license.

So the answer to your question is No, you cannot reset the license nor convert the applications for collections. You'll need to uninstall the entire suite and install the products individually. Use the following link to find the right product keys:

2018: Product keys for Autodesk products

If you have a standalone license of your suit you can't switch it to AEC subscription. This only works if you have a network license of your suite. If its standalone you have to uninstall the suite and install the product of the AEC Collection that you need.
