Maya 2016 Fatal Error: Attempting to save in C

I installed Maya 2016 into My 'New Volume (E:)' Drive and when I launched the application an error message appears saying, ' Fatal Error. Attemplying to save in C:/Users/user/AppData/Local/Temp/user.20170607.1516.ma'

I've tried researching for solutions on the web but can't seem to fix the problem. Can someone please help me rectify it?

Change the location of your %TEMP% and %TMP% file user environment variables under advanced system settings to C:\TEMP or E:\TEMP or another local folder of your choosing instead of the profile temp location. That should help.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I followed the guide you sent me and the error message still appears when I launch the Maya. Not only that but it also caused me further technical issues such as saving projects or files on my computer, so I changed the temp location to its original location.

Just FYI, C:\Appdata\local\temp is not a normal filepath. But that's fine, it would still be the equivalent of C:\TEMP, which is where I would always recommend that your %TEMP% file be pointed.

Do you have local admin rights and is your UAC off?

I have the same issue. No issues with permissions writing to that specific folder and also not consistent with that error. Half the time it will work, the other half it will have that error.

I had the same issue. Open up a fresh project import your old project into - save it as binary worked for me.

The error isn't consistent so even though you think it might have worked after doing something, you will run into the error again.

What do you mean by 'local admin rights' and 'UAC' off?

And how do i turn them off?
