Hi Justme,

AutoCAD for Mac is not designed to be installed and run on APFS file system.
As the alert states, it can be I installed only on HFS+ file system.

OK,

in other words:
Current version of AutoCAD for Mac (2017) is not designed to run on macOS High Sierra, especially on the first beta version of this new OS.

APFS is the new file system from Apple introduced in iOS 10.3 and macOS High Sierra also uses this file system too.

but all the other app can install, and they were old version.

I don't think it's because of APFS.

I also think that AutoCAD can run on APFS volumes, but the restriction about file system type is hard coded inside AutoCAD installer, so only developers can change it.

Any idea when Autodesk will update AutoCAD for Mac so that it CAN work with the new APFS? Seems like relatively high priority considering the upgrade rate on MacOS devices.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

This is a user based forum and we would not know what Autodesk is working on for the new MAC OS (until there's a formal announcement).. I would assume the AutoCAD for MAC 2018 version will support that but there's no release date for this version. Even if Autodesk employees knew, no one will indicate it until its time..

AutoCAD for Mac 2017.1 can run under latest Beta of macOS High Sierra with new APFS, but it need to be installed on Sierra (or El Capitan) before upgrading to High Sierra.

Ok this is very disappointing.. I've finally bought a new Macbook to draw with Autocad 2017.. and I can't install the f*cking software..

Its not an option for me to erase my full harddrive, do a clean Sierra install, install Autocad 2017.1, and update to High Sierra..

What are the other options? Are there some people who've installed it manually or something? Or is there a patch so we can disguise that we're on HFS+ file system?

Robert,

You should not use swear words in relation to the software that you intend to use.

Autodesk doesn't support its software on Beta versions of OS.

Hello @Anonymous,

As of right now, Autodesk does not support high Sierra which uses a new APFS file system. We do not support any Beta operating systems, when it is released we will have to wait & see if there are plans to support it in the future when Autodesk formally releases this information.
