How ever, within seconds, the 3ds max program greys out and becomes unresponsive, I can not do anything in the program. I think one of the startup scripts fail to load and is not showing up. &lt;P&gt;It looks like a student version is being used, and there could be issues with 3ds Max connecting to Autodesk, or antivirus preventing 3ds Max from connecting.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;But we can circle back around to that. Firstly, here are 5 common areas we need to confirm:&lt;BR /&gt;1/5&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;2018.4 update is applied (check version: Windows Control panel &amp;gt; Programs and Features)&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Go to the&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://accounts.autodesk.com/" target="_blank"&gt;Autodesk Accounts&lt;/A&gt;&amp;nbsp;page or the&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://www.autodesk.com/desktop-app" target="_blank"&gt;Autodesk Desktop App&lt;/A&gt;&amp;nbsp;and make sure that the latest update is applied.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;2/5&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;License update is installed&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;You can check license server version in Control Panel &amp;gt; Programs and Features.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Net framework version should be fine.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The post is about hang/freeze at startup. I believe the startup welcome screen is a different issue and should be asked in a new post. This stops any cross-communication about this and the original issue, and keeps the post tidy for future visits in regards to issue &amp;gt; solution &amp;gt; close.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Is the issue of freeze/hang at startup still happening?&lt;/P&gt;
