    <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks for the response.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Do you know what else I'm missing?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;A Ctrl+F search for 'Fail' only shows me the failure to install the Redistributable and the .Net Framework.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Should be be searching for anything in particular?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also, any links that could point me to the correct steps to fix my install?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>Infamous 1603 Error: Revit 2018 Install Fail</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello everyone,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Another infamous Revit 2018 install failure here, our typical 1603 is back.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've had enough of these to know the do the following:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) - 14.0.242.10&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64) - 14.0.242.10&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Run Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool from&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135" target="_blank"&gt;https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This time though, even after doing the above I was still getting 1603 / 1619 errors&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So after digging through the forums, I did the following:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Uninstall everything (AutoCAD, A360, Desktop Application...)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Removed all folders AutoDesk related from:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-- C &amp;gt; Autodesk&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-- C &amp;gt; Program Files &amp;gt; Autodesk&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-- C &amp;gt; Program Files (x86) &amp;gt; Autodesk&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-- C &amp;gt; Temp &amp;gt; Autodesk stuff&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Ensured the Temp folder existed but empty&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Still getting 1603 errors, so I did a Virtual Agent install.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This time it 'installed', but when I tried to open the application it would crash.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When I sent the crash report, it asked me to install the hotfix.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;After installing the hotfix, Revit would still crash.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now some notable points about the Virtual Agent install.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- It installed Revit 2018.1 (never saw the .1 before)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- I noticed it also installed Dynamo when I was looking at the prompts (cool! I didn't ask for it but was going to do it after)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- I saw the Virtual Agent gave me Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-- I downloaded all parts, and ran Part 1, and it looked it Revit 'installed' everything. (therefore did not run Part 2 and 3)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Questions Moving Forward:&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1. Do I need to run Part 2 and Part 3 of the Virtual Agent install, even though Revit is 'installed' after Part 1&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Do I need to uninstall everything again, and run a 'normal' install so you guys get the logs?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3. Worst case scenario, I would rather not flash my computer and do a complete reinstall of everything.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The software works great when it's first install! After that, well, upgrading has been a headache.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Looking forward to something, thanks for the work.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>There are still a bunch of VB failed entries in the Revit 2018 setup log.  You need to take care of them.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As for the Virtual Agent question, you only need to run the first file as long as all files have been downloaded completely.</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;In the past I had to search for any Failed Microsoft Visual C++ entries in the log, Uninstall them, search for the packages on Microsoft website to download and Reinstall, one by one.&amp;nbsp; There were more than just the two you listed above.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The one below indicating your installation file was not downloaded completely.&amp;nbsp; Since you already tried Virtual Agent so how about&amp;nbsp;download it through your account?&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Your installation is failing on updating netframe 4.6.2.&amp;nbsp; Please review this &lt;A href="https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-remove-and-reinstall-the-Microsoft-NET-Framework.html" target="_blank"&gt;article&lt;/A&gt;.&amp;nbsp; If that doesn't help after you do the installation again, most likely you will have to modify the installation &lt;A href="https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/install-net-framework-language-pack-failed-installation-aborted/m-p/3873491" target="_blank"&gt;setup.ini&lt;/A&gt; file.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;At the end of the log it looked like you had downloaded the actual media to your machine, perhaps not.&amp;nbsp; You can't change the installation setup.ini for the Autodesk media you never downloaded to your machine.&amp;nbsp; You are still trying to use the web installer which tries to install software from the Autodesk servers.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Follow these steps:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Download and install per:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;1.&amp;nbsp; Clean out your &lt;A href="http://www.thewindowsclub.com/temporary-files-folder-location-windows" target="_blank"&gt;personal temp (%temp%) folder&lt;/A&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Make sure you have full admin rights, set &lt;A href="https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/" target="_blank"&gt;Windows UAC&lt;/A&gt; to never notify and if possible disable your Anti-Virus/Malware scanning utilities. Also the download should occur over a hard wired connection to the Internet and not over WIFI.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;2. Access the&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="http://autodesk.creativevirtual15.com/autodesk/bot.html?isJSEnabled=1&amp;amp;businessArea=Root.Front%20Desk&amp;amp;startContext=Root.Front%20Desk" target="_blank"&gt;Autodesk Virtual Agent&lt;/A&gt; and follow the download links to your product.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;3. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. This means save each part to your hard drive.&amp;nbsp; Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.&lt;BR /&gt;4. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).&lt;BR /&gt;5. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.&lt;BR /&gt;6. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.&lt;BR /&gt;7. Follow the installation steps for your product.&amp;nbsp; At this point you could cancel the installation or create a deployment.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;However if the installation does fail using this method, please post your &lt;A href="https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Location-of-the-log-files-generated-by-the-installation-of-an-Autodesk-product.html" target="_blank"&gt;installation log&lt;/A&gt; file here so we can review it.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Posting info:&lt;/STRONG&gt; Sometimes the installation log file contains the serial # that was assigned to you.&amp;nbsp; Open your log file using Windows Notepad and perform a search on "/SN".&amp;nbsp; Depending on the number of installation attempts, your serial # may be located throughout the log file.&amp;nbsp; If present, remove or "X" out your serial # prior to posting.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Since I did the Virtual Agent install yesterday but Revit 2018.1 kept crashing on startup, I decided to try again using the browser install and try the Setup.INI changes suggested.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you're telling me to try the VA install again, I'll give it a go.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Updates (probably) within the hour.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;RESOLVED&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So the Virtual Agent install DID work this time for Revit 2018, even without installing the hotfix.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm guessing I didn't go deep enough on my previous 'clean' install.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;For others, and myself in the future, let me tell you a story:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Start &amp;gt; Autodesk (Folder) &amp;gt; Uninstall application&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Run the application, uninstall all Autodesk applications&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Control Panel &amp;gt; Uninstall Programs&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Uninstall all remaining Autodesk applications starting with (AutoCAD, Revit, respective additions such as content libraries, Autodesk Desktop, Dynamo, IronPython, others... etc.)&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64) - 14.0.24210 (at time of posting)&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) - 14.0.24210 (at time of posting)&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Run the Microsoft .Net Framework Repair Tool&lt;/STRONG&gt; (&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;A href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135" target="_blank"&gt;https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135&lt;/A&gt;)&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;3rd Party Uninstaller&lt;/STRONG&gt; (&lt;A href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed" target="_blank"&gt;https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed&lt;/A&gt;)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Next&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Uninstall&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Select Autodesk applications if remaining&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Follow prompts to uninstall&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Repeat until all applications are uninstalled&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Manually remove Autodesk folders from the following locations&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;C &amp;gt; Autodesk&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;C &amp;gt; Program Files &amp;gt; Autodesk&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;C &amp;gt; Program Files (x86) &amp;gt; Autodesk&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;C &amp;gt; Program Files &amp;gt; IronPython 2.7 (this is for Dynamo)&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;C &amp;gt; (&lt;A href="http://autodesk.creativevirtual15.com/autodesk/bot.html?isJSEnabled=1&amp;amp;businessArea=Root.Front%20Desk&amp;amp;startContext=Root.Front%20Desk" target="_blank"&gt;http://autodesk.creativevirtual15.com/autodesk/bot.html?isJSEnabled=1&amp;amp;businessArea=Root.Front%20Desk&amp;amp;startContext=Root.Front%20Desk&lt;/A&gt;)&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Enter 'Install'&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Click 'Software Download Links'&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Click 'Revit Products'&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Click 'Revit'&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Download ALL parts (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) (parts should be kept together in same folder)&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Run Part 1&lt;/STRONG&gt; (Revit_2018_G1_Win_64bit_dlm_001_003.sfx) and this should install everything, no need to run part 2 and 3&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Pray&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;If everything works, it should run after you click on Launch on the install complete screen.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It may look like it's stuck on a splash screen, but if you have a dual monitor setup like me and are reading this, the product activation pop-up may be hiding behind the browser window.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Enter your SN and everything should work.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If Revit crashes on start up, your 'clean' install was probably not clean, but there is still hope.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Submit the crash report, and it should bring you to a page with a hotfix.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Download the hotfix and it should install itself.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Restart your computer (just to be safe) and try running Revit.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If this fails the first time, then try again. Sometimes it crashes on the first run.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If this fails the second time, then do it all again and make sure your computer is truly clean from any Autodesk applications / related programs.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If this fails again, then it's time to start a thread on the forums, post the logs, and buy a beer.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If it works, it's time to buy a beer.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Story end.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks for everyone who helped, much appreciated.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
