topic Windows 10 updates and Autodesk .dll files missing in Installation & Licensing Forum

So over the last 2 months, I've had to use Microsoft Fixit and completely wipe all Autodesk products off 4 computers and do a complete reinstall of same. All seem to be happening with Windows 10 updates...which ones I don't know. I know on 1 computer it was Optimizer that was causing the issue. I'm not sure if its security related or what.

The issue is when you start AutoCAD, errors appear that state there are several missing .dll files and Autocad crashes. REVIT does the same, but will still continue to work..somewhat.

I've searched online and this forum and I really don't see anything relating to this. Has anyone else dealt with this lately? I'm hoping for an easy fix rather then having to uninstall and reinstall.

All computers affected are Dell computers running Windows 10 and Autodesk 2017.

Thanks

Bob

Hello @Anonymous,

This can be related to the heavy security settings Windows 10 offers. Please be sure you temporarily disable security software & prepare for a download & install.

Conduct a Clean Uninstall of the application & use the MSfixitTool to complete it

Reboot the computer & log in as Administrator

Clean out the TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Start Menu and hit Enter (Windows)

Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC on your Windows operating system

Use the Browser Download Method in your Autodesk Account

Thank you for posting & keep us informed.

Please “Accept As Solution” if a reply or replies have helped resolve the issue or answered your question, to help others in the community.
