Vault Basic Server 2018 Installation SQL Server Connect Issue

I am having a Vault Basic Server 2018 installation error appear when I try to install the software on our server and I have not been able to get it installed.

The error states: "Failed connecting to SQL Server" 'server=localhost\AUTODESKVAULT;userid=sa;password=*****"

The Autodesk SQL instance was configured per the information listed in the Autodesk Knowledge database.

The installation files were copied from the flash drive.

I am able to login to the instance on the server with no issue and this is a single server single location application.

Also this is a brand new server that has never had the software installed on it before, any suggestions to resolve this issue?

Welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thank you for posting your question here in the Vault forum!

Please take a look at help article: Vault install error: Failed connecting to SQL Server.

I suspect that if you follow the first link to: Vault server install error: Failed connecting to SQL Server; Insufficient Permissions

Copy the " SQLConnectCheck.exe" file from the <Install_location>:\en-us\edmPrechecks folder into the %temp% folder.

(Note: Unless defined otherwise, the default location of %temp% is C:\Users\<CurrentUserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\.)

Please, let me know if this fixed the issue if it did not work please post a screenshot of the error message you are seeing.

Unforunately the command line looked exactly like the picture on the link you sent. I even copied the SQLconnectcheck.exe to the %temp% folder.

I can login to SQL through the SQL management Studio using the same password so I am not sure what is going on. I am using SQL Server 2012 service pack 3.

Darren thanks for the link. Unfortunately that did not work either.

This is baffling me as to why it is not able to connect.

To save a lot of hassle, is it not worth uninstalling SQL, reinstall the instance and use the default sa password AutodeskVault@26200... and then just change the sa password through management studio after the install has succeeded?

Neil I did uninstall the instance and reinstall as default password information. I ran the vault pre-check and it came back all passed this time including the SQL connect but when I went to install it same error occurred. One weird thing happened when I went to login the SQL management studio I got an error I had never seen before but I clicked ok and tried logging again and it went fine so I am not sure what is going on. Utilizing the default password information did help but still not able to install.

Hi @Anonymous

This error only happens once then I would not worry about it as it happens when a connection is closed during the SQL login verification process.

Error:(A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)

I wanted to follow up to close the loop on this issue. This was resolved by reinstalled SQL and copy the " SQLConnectCheck.exe" file from the <Vault_Install_location>:\en-us\edmPrechecks folder into the %temp% folder.

(Note: Unless defined otherwise, the default location of %temp% is C:\Users\<CurrentUserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\.)
