Autodesk Network License Manager 2019

Well, it's that time again. Time to update your Autodesk Network License Manager files to the latest and greatest (Autodesk) version.

Autodesk is providing an updated version 11.14.1.3 for 2019 products for the first time in two releases. It is advised that you update this and any 3rd party Flexera versions that you may be running to this release or newer.

NOTE: If you do not update with the 2019 release, you may get a 0.0.0 error.

Just like the last couple of years and moving forward, the License Manager files are no longer available for direct download from Flexera. Per their new policy, you must obtain the license manager from your software vendor. You can download the Autodesk Network License Manager files here for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions:

You can update your license file to 2019 versions from your Autodesk Accounts page once your Subscription has been updated.

Autodesk Product Keys for all versions can also be found here.

You can use the online method to activate your license here:

Or you can contact your Value-Added Reseller for assistance. You can locate your VAR here:

To update your license file, you will need to provide your serial number and ethernet ID of the new license server.

If you have 3rd party or other Autodesk license files, it is recommended that you combine them into the new version. For the best method to properly combine your license files, please read my entire thread here and choose the method that best fits your needs:

I do also want to point out that I have tested 2019 to work with the good ole standby 11.7 version of the Autodesk Network License Manager. This is good news for people with odd situational compatibility issues.

Thanks for your post/update on NLM! I am having a weird issue since two weeks ago. I Updated NLM to the last versión but probelma persiss

Every time a Start My PC and open Autocad 2018 it shows a warning windows asking for license file o license server.

I figured out that If I go to LMTOOLS and STOP server, START server and open autocad Again it works ok. I need to do this everytime only for the first time when I start up My PC.

ANy ideas?

If you don't restart the license service does it keep prompting for the server info? If so what happens if you keep doing it.. Does it finally issue you a error message with a code?

Right. Is your LMTOOLS configured to Start Services at Power Up? Make sure both boxes are checked on the Config Services tab. I suspect the NLM is not starting correctly for some reason and your manual start-up of the service kick starts it correctly.

I never went so far I ended Autocad process from Task MAnager and proceed with the steps I told you And get ACAD working ok. I would TRy and let you know If I get any error code

both boxes are checked on the Config Services tab YES. It also figures that server is running ok with license file path ok

I just need to STOP and START service to get it work.

I am running Windows 10 Pro x64

Corei5 12GB RAM

ACAD 2018 x64 english with last update installed

License type: 1Floating Server license

Same PC works AS server license, actually this is the only PC working with autocad.

I believe we are using the 2016 version which lists LMTOOLS.EXE as 11.13.1.2 which was not able to supply a license to a Civil 3D 2019. So I am going to try upgrading to the current one which is 11.14.1.3. At first I thought 2019 was working but then I realized I was just on a trial license and I hadn't noticed because the (not for resale title was no longer there).

Also, unrelated, I noticed when testing if you open the BORROWLICENSE dialog and select a date and then just click Close without clicking the Borrow License button you get a bubble popup saying your license expires in 311 days.

When I check the box that says Use Services, I get an error stating FlexNet Licensing Service is not installed or disabled.

There is also a third checkbox that says FlexNet Licensing Service Required that I cannot check, any ideas?

Did you check the server or pc (hosing the license manager) services and see if the license service is started and not disabled?

I can't find the service there at all and I have tried resintalling 5he license manager.

What folder did the NLM installer choose to put the files? I've never been a fan of the installer.

It installed to: C:\Autodesk\Network License Manager

I am not a fan either, in the past when errors like this have occurred, I have been able to cheat around the issue by downloading a more up to date version of LMTOOLS either direct from Flexera (no longer an option) or from other software that uses LMTOOLS for licensing that we have. We can no longer use the second option, as all of our other software had upgraded to using more modern network licensing tools. So, that doesn't work either, I wish Autodesk would follow suit.

I hear ya.

Try right-clicking the Network License Manager folder and go to Properties. On the Security Tab add the user Everyone and give it full control. Then Right-click LMTOOLS and Run as Administrator and see if you can configure the service as you normally would.

I myself have had some issues with 11.14.x and Server 2016 being wonky. I usually just copy the 4 NLM files and the License file into a C:\Flexnet folder and give it full control. Seems to be the best solution in most cases.

The steps are all the same. Might be worth a shot, since it only takes a couple of minutes to try.

It doesn't have to with the path, it will start fine, but not as a Windows Service, so when I log off the license server no one can get a license any more. Please see the attached screenshot.

to me it looks like flex lm wasn’t installed

did you install this using an Autodesk product installer?

I downloaded the latest version from Autodesk's site, I figured that should be a valid installer as they say it is the latest version.
