I'm a student learning AutoCAd. I've installed the student autoCAD version on a Dell Inspiron 17 laptop. I've recently upgraded my laptop to a Dell 7720 Precision workstation. Can I run the student version on both devices or do I need to uninstall the previsouly installed version first?

As a teacher, I have educational licenses for 3DS Max and Maya. I didn't install AutoCad, as I do video, audio, and animation, but checked my account, "All products and services," which says 1 seat. I imagine that if you do the same that this is what will say.

Therefore, I am assuming that you can only have 1 device installed with AutoCad.

However, there's another product, AutoCad LT, which allows 1 seat. How about installing AutoCad on one device, and AutoCad LT on the other device if it suits your school's curriculum. LT versions costs less once you've graduated, which Autodesk is hoping that you will do, which is why they let you use it for free for3 years while you're in school.

Good luck in your education.

I make non-commercial videos in support of individuals, organizations, and business of limited means. I like to help people which is why I was a classroom teacher for 30 years, formed a US 501c3 to do media activities, and answered your post. The 501c3 also provides media education to students of limited means.

I made a fundraising video for an orphanage where many girls are orphaned as victims of terror or abuse; a made a promotional video for a fellow who started an organization that makes tie-dyed shirts after he lost both legs in a car accident and nearly died. I made some videos promoting Bible scholarship and tourism in the Holyland. I made some videos of some emerging folk musicians. The videos are on my YouTube channel.

I am currently working on a documentary educational video of historical/archaelogical/religious nature which is supported with animation for which I use 3DS Max.

@Anonymous

I don't want my message to discredit the good things that you are doing for others but.. I have a few things...

1. Are you actually a teacher in an Autodesk qualified educational institution ? From your posting it doesn't sound it and just because you are a teacher that provides educational information (to others) doesn't mean you are just entitled to a free educational license. You must meet the requirements.

2. It also sounds like you are making videos using Autodesk products that you got free from Autodesk (but not under the guidelines that Autodesk requires for educational - in my opinion). Which means you can't be making these videos using Autodesk products.

3. However If #1 and #2 actually fall under an Autodesk qualified educational institution for you,any information, documentations, models and/or files created while using a free educational license is only for learning and training within the designated classroom for the students that are attending a class using that given Autodesk product. Any of that information can not be shared with anyone outside the classroom of that given qualified educational institution, the public, any business, in publications, internet/web or in any way that you or someone else can profit or make money from it. I know you said you are providing videos in a non-commercial sense but if they are being shared out in the public (outside a classroom), its a violation of the rules and you must subscribe to a commercial license to do this.

Anyhow kudos to what you're doing for others but my message here, I believe you need a commercial license of your Autodesk product if you are using these products to create videos for others (in the public)

However I will tag others to see what their opinions are based on what they read...

Mark makes excellent points. Non-profit does not preclude you from needing a commercial license to publish the work you are doing online. While your reasoning is admirable, the license agreement is pretty strict on its use.

I don't use Autodesk products to make any videos. I use non-Autodesk products.

Here, I was trying to just help some forum user, and Mark asked me what kind of videos that I made, so I told him.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTBvad78hHfFvev3hBKcxEQ

You can look at them all and see that there is absolutely no 3D animation involved. They were all shot with live video.

Registration for the Fall classes involving Autodesk products that i will be attending actually comes in this month, and I could provide my documentation. I am just

I try very much to conform to applicable licensing. I have plans to teach 3DS Max and Maya through my non-profit once I finish the courses, and I am glad that I am learned about other these other forms of licensing once I finish the courses.

I am taking the classes in game design and Maya in support of this documentary because I actually don't know how to use 3DS Max or Maya.

My work on this documentary has been done with live video. I just experimented with 3DS Max to see how the pipeline can be implemented. As I said, I am working on it. More accurately, I have thinking and planning it, not actually using Autodesk products to do anything.

So, Mark et. al.: I DON'T use AUTODESK PRODUCTS for ANY videos. I am only PLANNING on using them for a project.

https://www.techsoup.org/products/autodesk-media-and-entertainment-collection--1-year-subscription--G-49250--

I appreciate this information. I intend to apply as the organization qualifies. The only caveat is that this fiscal year in this program starts on July 1st. As well, the courses have their own registration cycle.

Does all my transparency satisfy you as to how legitimate I am and trying to be?

This all got started just because out of my kindness to help some student forum member with his problem.

Solidsworks in not an Autodesk product. Not sure why you are posting about it on an Autodesk user's forum.

Hello, first timer on the forums here, hope this string will still be monitored. I'm a student currently using 3Ds Max, which is loaded on one desk top PC and one old laptop. I now have a new laptop that I want to load another student version of 3DsMax on. I only use one device at a time, actually the old laptop will not be used again.

- Is there a limit to how many devices I can load my student version of 3Ds Max on?

- Could I also load Maya on my same devices, at the same time?

- If the above line is true, could I open and run both 3Ds Max and Maya at the same time on the same device?

Thanks for the support, KPO.
