I just launch maya 2018 on ubuntu 18.04.1 with this scrip:

#!/bin/csh -f
#
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/autodesk/maya2018/plug-ins/xgen/lib:/usr/autodesk/maya2018/plug-ins/substance/lib:/usr/autodesk/maya2018/lib:/usr/autodesk/maya2018/plug-ins/camd/lib:/usr/autodesk/maya2018/plug-ins/fbx/lib:/usr/autodesk/maya2018/plug-ins/MASH/lib:/usr/autodesk/maya2018/plug-ins/xgen/lib
/usr/autodesk/maya2018/bin/maya.bin

Just open gedit or your favorite text editor and paste this on it, allow executing as a program and launch it from terminal, like for example: ./maya.sh (maya.sh is the name of the archive)

Hello

In the last days I'm trying to install Maya 17 on Ubuntu 18.04, but I have a lot of problems. I'm so close to conquer it using a extense guide that I found in internet, and Maya executes , registers, and when it shows the initital splahscreen, it crashes.

I think that it would be useful to use AppImage, Snap or Flatpak to package this software. It would be more easy for all linux users to install in ther different distributions.

Greetings

Ubuntu user here. This is Autodesk, they don't care about linux and their answer will be: "We do not support ubuntu, just RHEL and CentOS". I don't really think they will ever develop an appimage, snap, flatpak... of Maya.
