Hi

In our office we have 3 machines that are to use Inventor 2018. None of them can get licenced. We can run 2019 but not 2018. All machines are not Administrator but 2018 has been installed using an Administrator account.

In our AD account, we have reset all of the 2018 licences so that all licences are available but we still cannot get Inventor to licence. Our IT guy has tried everything but nothing. We have a licence server on our server and when we add the address or ip address to browse for it, nothing happens.

Here is what we get first

When we try to specif the licence server system, nothing happens. When we specify the licence file, we dont have a .lic file anywhere.

We then get this

Sometimes we only get this.

either way, we cannot licence any of the 3 machines. One of the machines did work but now that we have reset licences, it no longer works period. So, what is the solution? Are we better off changing the licences to stand alone seeing as the server system is problematic? Its causing issues in the office and across teams as different Inventor versions is a no no

any ideas to on how to resolve?

Thanks

Nacho

This is a installation and licensing issue.. Not an Inventor problem.. Questions like these should be posted in the installation and licensing forum https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/bd-p/24. I will have the moderator relocate your posting there to better suit your needs.

Now to your problem.. -4 message means there's no license available or you reached the max limit. So place the debug log as specified in the config service tab of your license manger.

we only installed 2019 because these issues occurred with only a 2018 installation. Are you sure that its correct? Not that im questioning you bu the licence is assigned to the User and our account allows us to have multiple versions as long as only 1 version is running at a time. Me for example have a stand alone licence and i can run bother versions ok without any licence issues, i just cant run them simultaneously.

Thanks

with network licensing it works differently if you open 2 versions of the same product on the same computer in this case inventor 2018 & 2019 this will consume 2 licenses

so lets say you only had 1 license you cannot run 2018 & 2019 at the same time

with standalone yes you will not get an error with licensing if you do this
