Greetings.

We just purchased 25 seats of 2020 and during the install process, all was going flawlessly, (after I figured out some other things,) and I had installed the program on 8 systems and was working on the 9th when I suddenly get a dialog box that reads, (picture below,).

This error message appears 7 or 8 times during this install and I click close and continue clicking until the program loads to the open menu screen where it locks up.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5 or so times. I have deleted the folder(s) associated with AdSSO and tried opening the application only to freeze again.

Any and all assistance appreciated.

T.

Hello @Ted_Hadden,

Since it seems you already tired to correct the issue with the AdSSO component specifically. It could be a bigger issue I would try to start fresh keeping in mind that the systems need unrestricted access during installation & during 1st launch/sign-in.

Conduct a Clean Uninstall of the previous installation & use the MSfixitTool to complete it

Reboot the computer, make sure apps are not auto running in the background

Log in as Administrator (check your permissions, full control) or create a new profile

Keep in mind the software needs Administrator rights during installation & at first launch after installation. Also set up the application to run as Administrator.

Howdy AutoDESK World,

Just dropping by to state that I resolved my installation issues.

Apparently our IT department uses previously used laptops when assigning them over to new users. This as I have seen caused no little loss of sleep for me this week.

Apparently the previous user was a graphic artist that used a stylus and a table as his sketch pad and pencil. The software for these devices was apparently blocking AutoDESK to do it's job.

After stripping the laptop of all signs of anything AutoDESK, and running a defrag, I made a final attempt to install the program of this errant laptop after a cold shutdown and boot sequence. AutoCAD proceeded to install as it would usually do and then get to the point before asking whether I was going to use it as a single user or mulit-user, and I started getting the messages that I attached to the O.P. of this thread. I immediately went to Task Manager, and scrolled down where it was reading the table and stylus were active and running, and ended those tasks, and AutoCAD picked right up where it was and then let me finish the installation.

So all is good in my world for now, and until the next one.

I appreciate the thoughts and assistance from all.

Respectfully,

Ted Hadden

Hello AutoDESK Enthusiasts,

I am back to clarify my earlier post about this error.

I have to withdraw the statement of IT using previously used systems. It turns out that these Elitebook laptops are the type that allow for the user to use the screen as a tablet, and therefore the drivers are necessary to make the kit function correctly.

For historical accuracy, I have installed 2020 on five more of these style laptops and encountered the same issue on everyone of them.

The solution for this error on this style of laptop currently then is to leave the install in a stalled state, open the Task Manager, scroll down to the T category of applications running and end all the tablet and pen tasks. Once those are ended, the AutoCAD install will pick up from where it stalled and finish installing correctly.

That said, AutoDESK should be made aware that this AdSSO error will be problematic for all users with this style laptop. And there should be a work around for future users.

Respectfully,

Ted Hadden

Hello,

I am using a student license on a DELL All In One pc. This pc has touchscreen capability (similar to the tablet I read in the previous email in this thread).

The McAfee antivirus app installed on this machine wants to block AdSSO.

What is this application and why does McAfee think it's a bad thing that needs to be blocked?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Mary Beth Chasen

Dell Core i7 64bit

Win 10

AdSSO is an AutoDESK component, (AutoDESK Single Sign On,) it's used by AutoDESK to reach their site from your computer to verify your licensing.

McAfee thinks it's bad because it's opening a port to the network (internet) to allow access for this verification. Verification is absolutely required in order to make AutoDESK work.

There may be within your McAfee an a process known as "Exclusions" if you can access this part of the antivirus program, and type in AutoDESK/*..* then save the list, McAfee should allow the AdSSO to work.

Otherwise, the alternate course is to temporarily disable your McAfee. (Personally I don't like McAfee.)

Hope this helps.
