Hi @Anonymous ,

Unfortunately, this is not the best place to ask such a question.

Please note that this discussion forum is dedicated to programming Revit using the Revit API.

Therefore, you cannot expect an answer to a question such as yours relating to installation, product usage, or end-user support issues here.

You should try one of the non-API Revit product support discussion forums instead for that:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-api-forum/this-forum-is-for-revit-api-programming-questions-not-for/td-p/5607765

The people there are much better equipped to answer your question than us.

I hope this clarifies.

Revit installation fails.

I'm a student and I'm having following problems,

1. I tried to download Revit 2020 & Revit 2019, as a student access. A download manager was first installed in my computer which then had downloaded the Revit setups and all required necessities for a proper installation. Both 2020, and 2019, downloading failed at some point.

As a solution,

I downloaded Revit 2018. It's downloader is different than 2019 and 2020, much old school as well. The downloading completed and I ran to install it. Apparently everything installed, all other files except Revit itself showed a failed status. Despite the failed status, I tried to run it and it worked successfully and asked me to login, or use a product key to activate or run a 30 day trial.

Real problem,

When I signed in, it said this version is no longer valid. Two options were available to me: Get a trial now or Subscribe now. I believe for a newer version? However, below that message was another option: If I have a license already.

I clicked on it and it asked me to enter a product ID and seriel key, which I had received in my email address. Upon copy pasting the exact ID and key, the activation failed eventually. I was being asked to do it by Method 2 or look up on forums why this happened. The method 2 is the offline one.

I tried the offline version. However upon going to the Virtual Agent or even register.autodesk, when I enter my request code to get an activation code, I get an error that my account is running through some screening as of yet and it may take a few minutes but I've been trying for 6 days.

My questions,

1.My laptop is Corei3, Intel chipset, 6gb Ram, should I run 2018 or can I run 2020?

2. Why won't the 2020/2019 download? Is there any other way? I figured the Virtual part through part 1, 2, 3 but even if I do it that way, it won't activate or would it?

3. How to fix this activation issue? It seems to be a dead-end.

I'm a student and need access for my thesis purpose, I'm running short of time and this is a huge brick wall.
