Controlling Home user licences

Hello all,

I have various numbers of Autodesk products, all network subscriptions.

I have users that are working form home but cannot borrow a licence because they cannot log onto the system.

I thought that the easiest way would be to set up home user licences.

if i request 10 licences to give out how do i get them back or stop the users from using them when everything goes back to normal? I dont want users using the home licence if the licences are being used in the office.

how can i control it?

How are they working from home if they are not connected to the company network resources?

We leave the user's PC at the office, and let the user RDP in over the VPN using their own PC or a loaner we give them. No license issues, no "slow cad" issues since the data and processing unit are still in the same building, etc.

Thanks for posting. I have provided some information for you to review to help answer your questions.

Subscribers of both Single-user & Multi-user licenses can install software on more than one computer.

Single-user subscriptions do not require requesting a home use license.

Multi-user subscribers can Borrow a License or Request an at home use license.

Make sure your products are eligible for a home use license. Please review the eligibility requirements.

Home Use License expiration's are given until the end date of Subscription or Maintenance Plans or 13 months from the issuance data, whichever comes first. You will want to contact Customer Service prior to the expiration of your Home Use Licenses to revoke it or to have it extended, if the contract has not already expired.

We cannot log onto the network from outside the building.

we need to use home user licences.

we need to transfer the data securely.

It's a pain in the butt, but security demands it.

I have gone round and round in circle with the request a home licence.

I cannot wait 12 months for the licence to time out or end the current subscription.

for example, I have 450 network subscriptions seats of AutoCAD and 1500 users.

I need to take out 50 home user licences for home workers who cannot get into the building.

I will block 50 licences from the network licence.

When the 50 home users come back into the office, or i need to priorities the licences to different home users I need to take them back or i will run the risk of more users than licencees than i have.

How do I revoke the home user licencees from the 50 users so that i can float my 450 network licencees?

will Customer Service be able to do this?

i don’t believe there is a way to control it

you would have to delete the activation data on each machine

can you not change your policy temporarily so users can borrow a license?

You cannot control/.revoke/count/identify/whatever else you can think of with home use licences. Sorry. You gave that up with your method of release. It's why you are never ever supposed to do that if you can help it.

Just the facts. There is no backdoor solution or option.

Hello, the policy cannot be changed due to security.

The machine would not be on the network but instead off network in the users home.

Hello, so how are people with network licences making sure that they don't exceed there licence limit by having users at home and users on the network licence? it seem flawed.

We are allowed to do that but we are unable to control?

i didn't intentionally give anything up.

Autodesk came up with an option of home licences with network licences and we don't have any control on it.

they set up a vpn to allow users to remote into the license server & borrow a license & where you can control who can borrow & for how long

Yes, as previously mentioned Customer Service can revoke the Home Use license.

You will want to contact Customer Service prior to the expiration of your Home Use Licenses to revoke it or to have it extended, if the contract has not already expired.

You can make the request yourself click here to request an at home use license or work with your reseller.

That's not a home licence, thats borrowing a licence and i think that you know that is not the same thing.

We have a VPN that is controlled via RSA tokens due to the data being sensitive.

Laptops are built specially to support the RSA tokens.

Unfortunately we didn't have time to roll out the extra 7500 tokens or the machines to all the users that require them before lock down. Therefore i cannot borrow a licence hence my request.

I think that we are where we are, and that wont change over night, but the possibility of controlling a home licence may.

Sorry for repeating my question, but from the response from the forum and two VARS i had to check if it can be done as it appears that they all think that it cannot. I also couldn't find anything on the internet or the Autodesk home licence page on revoking a licence early, so im sure sure that you will forgive me for checking.

i have also just been on your customer service website that sends me around in the same loop.

I have had to send customer services an Email.
