Deployment of same settings for DWG TrueView 2021

I have to install the software on approx. 10 PCs and want to provide same user settings (support path; plot path, ..) on a simple way. The installation would be done manually on each PC, for the (modified) settings I want export and import a REG file.

But besides the fixed local paths and the fixed network paths I have to use the different user-depending paths. When I export the reg the are also "hardcoded", so the question is:

Will it work when I modify the REG with variables like "%temp%" or especially %RoamableRootFolder% (which is created during the installation)?

I recommend to modify the dwgviewr.msi with a transform (.mst). It is very easy to do. And if a different user logs in, it is also deployed without additional steps.

If you have an example reg file I will take a look and prepare a transformation for you.

Just took a short look to your registry and yes most depends on "ROAMINGUSERFILESFOLDER". But others like printer settings, support path, etc. can be modified through a transformation.

I will prepare a test transformation tomorrow which you can apply and try.

I just see that a MST is a binary file which I can not open and can not modify. So maybe it is regrettably not the best way for me ...

Otherway, I would works with modified reg-files. And if that fails, I will set the options manually. Not really smart, but for 10 installations not that hard ..

Okay.

Just some additional info:

Windows Installer is part of the operation system. And using transformations is also the way Autodesk modifies there installations during the installation process.

If you get/have a transformation you can use Orca.exe (for free) from Microsoft to check/verify what is modified. You can also use orca to create/modify a transformation, check patches (.msp) and modify msi files.
