student AutoCAD-2022 - works only when signed-in

I opened a new student account, downloaded and installed AutoCAD-2022

Could not get Serial and thus could not Activate (for 1-year)

Then - by accident - I found that it is activated but only if and when I signed-in to my account (for every working session).

Is this a new rule (instead of serial number)?

Will it work for a year?

Does it makes impossible to work off-line? or I can get around it and still work off-line?

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes - (Most) Licenses are now Sign-In to Activate - it doesn't change much other than that you use your Autodesk ID to sign in. However, you shouldn't need to log in every session.

In terms of offline usage - it hasn't changed but remains that you must verify your license at least every 30 days which does require you to be online. So you can be offline most of the time as long as you connect to the internet every 30 days.

Finally - Education licenses will last for a year (at which point you can renew)

Thank you for information

Apparently I should be always on-line and signed-in.

If I sign-off >> immediately I get the following message:

" The product license is no longer available. Please save your work and shutdown.

6 min remains before AutoCAD will be shutdown.

/options/

- Save drawings and quit - all open drawings will be saved and the application will be shut down immediately,

- Continue working - return to the application to manually save your work during the grace period,

- Quit without saving - the application will quit without saving any open drawings."

So I believe it would be it is dangerous to get off-line (or even sign-off) - all work could be lost.... I'd better keep on-line and signed-in continuously during every working session.

Hi @Anonymous,

If you sign off of course the license will be unavailable. You being signed in is the license.
