Hi Travis,

we are using a PLM system. In that system I have the option to specify a Viewer for e.g. DWG files. Means I can define a path like C:\program files\autodesk\DWG TrueView 2020\DWGVWR.EXE.

If now one has installed a newer one, the path is different. Thats why I want to get rid of the numbers. 🤷‍♂️

Howsoever,

In file D:\Downloads\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2025 - English - (EN)\x64\dwgviewr\pkg.dwgviewr.xml

in section

<InstallPathMappings>
<InstallPathMapping source="[{ProgramFilesX64}]\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2025 - English\" target="%INSTALL_DEST%\DWG TrueView\"/>
</InstallPathMappings>

you can set %INSTALL_DEST% to the path of your needs.

Also a command line like

setup.exe /INSTALL_DEST="C:\Program Files\Autodesk\DWG TrueView\" --silent

should work

In this way I'm able to use all different versions of DWG viewers like 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

🤷‍♂️😉

I'm trying to modify the target path where TV should be installed. This to get rid of the annoying year-number in the path (DWG TrueView 2025 - English)...

All command line parameters like --INSTALLDIR="Path" or modifying of files like:

- Setup.xml

- setup.exe.config

- pkg.dwgviewr.xml

- app.dwgviewr.en-US.xml

are ignored. Yep - definetely a "new install experience"... 😞

any suggestions are appreciated.

Regards from Cologne, Germany

Why does it bother you so much? If you can't end up changing the installation path, maybe rename the path after installation and change all the registry keys and shortcuts to the new folder? That's what I would attempt.
