topic Installing BDSP, SendDmp error in Installation & Licensing Forum

I am installing a network deployment of BDSP 2016, but I have one machine that is giving an error. It gets to the installation splash screen "Determining Installation Requirements", and gives me the Autodesk reporting error. Once I send the error report, I get another error that the "SendDmp component has stopped working." The installation freezes, and I have to end it with Task Manager. It is on a Windows 7 machine, with 24 GB RAM, and 64-bit OS. Revit 2015 is already installed and runs with no issues. I've exhausted my resources with this install, other than wiping the machine and starting over. Any thoughts?

(a) are you installing while logged in as local administrator?
(b) if so, make sure the %temp% space is empty/cleaned

What I'm wondering is if there isn't a Windows Profile issue?
Can you log in as you (presuming you have local admin rights) and try the install that way - so that you're under a different windows profile...?

Just my 2¢

(a) Yes.

(b) Done.

Possiblity it's the Profile and/or Registry.

And, yes, I've logged in as Admin...I have also tried installing from Autodesk Accounts rather than the deployment. Same issue.

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Our IT guy thinks the SendDmp error has to do with the Autodesk reporting error not being able to send the report. It doesn't answer why we get the error report in the first place, though.

I would agree based on that error dialog, since SendDmp.exe is it's own separate application. It probably uses senddmpRes.dll also.

Have you opened a support ticket with Autodesk?

If you or your IT person are interested in satisfying the curiosity, you could try using the app found at http://www.dependencywalker.com/ to possibly see where it's failing.

Thanks, R.K. I will explore both of those options. I ran a different registry cleaner yesterday, and the machine has a ton of issues. Personally, I would just like to wipe it and start over...but that would fall under IT control. The fact that she is running 2015 with no issues is my only hesitation with doing that.

I spoke with David Lau from Autodesk this afternoon. We were able to download the .exe from the Virtual Agent. I was originally *installing* (running), rather than saving the .exe files. Installation worked like a charm.
