Autocad 2016 won't open (neither by opening the program nor by opening a dwg file). The program will only open and get stuck in the loading process (see image attached)

This started just after a Windows 10 update on the 5th Jan 2016 (it worked perfectly on Windows 10 untill now).

After the update, when I turned on my computer, I would get an error message: msvcp110.dll and msvcr110.dll files missing. Not sure if that has something to do. However I managed to reinstall these, the message doesn't appear anymore but AutoCad still won't open.

I use Windows 10 64bits

Anyone in the same situation?

Any solutions?

Hi,

I also have the same error after a windows update. i have completely unistalled everything related to autodesk from my machine and reinstalled, with no success.

I am also missing the same dll files - and when i try and run the SP1 it wont let me as they are missing. How did you reinstall these dll files.

And did you find a solution.?

Hi @Anonymous & @Anonymous,

As mentioned by @wispoxy, the missing msvc110.dll files points to missing MS Visual C++ Redistibutable files. (ms= MicroSoft; v= Visual; c= C++ libraries).

Seeing as you are running Windows 10, the C++ files which need to be removed and re-installed can be found HERE

Also, the Windows 10 Anniversary edition updates introduced other issues. So if the C++ files do not resolve your issue, you could also try:

OPTION 1:

Roll back the Windows 10 update. How to do this is explained HERE

OPTION 2:

(If the two above-mentioned solutions do not resolve your issue)... Then try to CLEAN UNINSTALL AutoCAD and the also remove .NET and C++ libraries and then reinstall them again followed by reinstalling AutoCAD.

I hope the two of you manage to get everything working again!

Hi Rudi,

I had the same problem as the other users. I use ACADLT 2014 and it worked fine with Windows 10 but the Anniversary upgrade killed it.

I tried everything -- reverting to the previous version of Windows 10, resetting C++ and .NET files, reinstalling ACAD (twice)... Nothing has worked. AutoCAD starts to load and then just disappears.

As far as I can tell, my final option is to Reset my OS back to Windows 8. Of course that means completely reinstalling all my programs. Do you (or does anyone else) have any other suggestions before I go for the full reset?

Thanks for your help!

Sharon

Hi Sharon,

Welcome to the community

You mentioned that you Rolled Back Windows 10 and that you "resetted" your .NET & C++ files. Did you accept that they would be correct after the rollback or did you actually uninstall and re-install them? I just made a post with a couple of images where you would be able to see some of the steps required to uninstall & re-install the files. Click HERE

Did you try to download AutoCAD LT 2014 from Virtual Agent? It might be that the original installation files which you have on your PC might be corrupted.

Before installing anything, disable your anti-virus and turn off your UAC (Windows Start button in the search, type in UAC). Also, clean your temporary folder before installation and make sure that your installation files are copied into your root/primary drive and install it from there as admin.

I hope that some of these steps might resolve you issue before going through the tedious effort of formatting and re-installing everything!

@Anonymous - I'm so glad that you are up and running again!
