Hi

i successfully installed revit 2016 on my 3k resolution thinkpad w540. The display adapters of my computer are Inter(R) HD Graphics 4600 and NVIDIA Quadro K2100M.

The problems is:

In picture A, "1" is not showing currectly which is dark unless when I move my mouse to it. "2" keeps twinkling all the time. I haven't seen it remain stable for now. When I open a revit file, changing to the floor plan, nothing showed up.

When I minimize Revit, and then maximize it again, the floor plan showed up, but the toolbar became black again. (showed in Picture B)

I have tried all recent versions of Revit, but all turned up like this. All my other Autodesk software work well. (I used vasari before, same problem. I think it's because it was still based on the platform of Revit.)

I'm not sure if it is related to any vedio card of my computer or screen resolution, or any other plugins or drivers.

This is really confusing me. Hope some one can help me.

Perform a clean install of the latest WHQL certified driver for your video card:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/96383/en-us

Then make sure that you are using the Quadro card for Revit and that your laptop doesn't use the built-in Intel card. Sometimes you can do this within your settings or your BIOS. Somtimes it's called Optimus in the BIOS. Sometimes there is a hard button on the keyboard. You will have to look that up, likely.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your help, but it seems the problem is not solved.

My system is win 10, and I followed the website you provided and found the one compatible for win10. And I checked that Revit was using the NVIDIA processor.

Unfortunately, almost nothing changed in Revit. What changed as I considered is the frequency of the twinkling at the bottom(Picture A :number "2") which is getting a bit slower.

Windows 10 is not supported, so you might have to live with this issue for awhile unfortunately. You could also see if changing it to use the Intel card helps. It might.

Do you mean this solution not suitable for win10? Because I found the compatible driver for win 10 on that website.

If not support win10, do you know what is the reason why this problem happens?

Revit works well on my friend's different computers and they are also using win 10. I'm really confused why it does not work well on mine. When I was using win 8, this problem also happened. And I thought win10 might help solving the problem but it let me down.

I'm just noting that Windows 10 is not a supported OS for your product.

The issue, and difference between your computer and your friends' computers, is likely your video card. Since the problem did not get fixed from Windows 8.x to 10 nor from an updated driver, then it is likely a hardware limitation of the card itself.

This computer was bought less than 1 year ago. And is a thinkpad workstation. I do agree there might be some hardware limitation. But I am really confused why older versions of revit also didn't work well. I do wonder what the limitation is with this computer. As a thinkpad workstation, it is supposed to be good for autodesk software.(It really works nice with other autodesk software.) This is really confusing. Althought problem not solved, thanks for your help.

I just tried Revit 2014. NVIDIA Quadro K2100M is in its list. But same problem happened. It seems there should be some other reasons.

By the way, the list is for recommendation. So some not on that list still has the potential to work the software successfully.

After the test on Revit 2014, I do consider there be other reasons. Below is some information of the computer in case it helps.

Pointing device W540 FPR 5BCP w/NFC w/CS

WiFi wireless LAN adapters Intel 7260 BT ACBGN

Wireless WAN accessories MBL BB upgradable, future use

RAID Setting Internal RAID - Not Enabled

Color Sensor Color Sensor

System Unit W540 NVIDIA Quadro K2100M 2GB

Storage Adapter No M.2

Security Chip 2 Security Chip Enabled

Display Panel W540 15.5 3K IPS WWAN CS

Processor Intel Core i7-4910MQ

Normally I would recommend trying the driver that they list on that Autodesk supported site. But since it is likely for Windows 7 instead of Windows 10, it may not work for you.

You might also try logging in as another user on that computer and launch Revit to see if the problem is specific to your computer or to your Windows profile.
