limitations of student licence

Hello

I am a student and have been using student licence of inventor and simulation CFD since long. I am working on a project that might get eligible for patent. Does the involvement of student licences create any problems for the same?

Welcome to the community!

First, you're using an educational license which prohibit use for monetary gain. A patenting something modeled under these licensing terms will be a violation. You should speak to a patient lawyer to discuss your designs which they will most likely contract the design out to a licensed Engineer to finalize the design.

That being said, he will not be able to start from your model because it was created with an education licensed product.

Or, purchase a desktop subscription on a monthly term to create the design.

You own the intelectual rights for your design irrespective of the Autodesk Educational product you use. Your design is your sole property and you may sell it as you wish However:
The electronic files produced by an educationl licensed product MAY NOT be transfered/sold/shared for a profit or monetory gain
Files saved/pronted by an Educational License will be watermarked and may not be used by third parties
The design will either have to be reproduced on a licenced copy by the third party
Otherwise you may do as suggested by @Darin.Green purchase a monthly subscription when you are certain and reproduce them accordingly

You may refer to the license agreement of the product you have...

Thank you for your reply. I haven't yet created my final designs for which I will not use autodesk inventor in student licence. Just that when I started I used some drawings out of inventor to do certain simulations that MAY contribute to the future design path. No drawings produced yet will be transferred,sold or shared for profit with any third party. Also if a licenced engineer is hired to create final drawings then he will not be importing any component previously prepared in inventor and will instead start with a fresh drawing. I think that should do or do you suggest me to do those simulations again using files generated on a different CAD software?

I currently have an education license since I am switching to Fusion 360 from other CAM software because of its cloud based capabilities amid covid. I want to know the limitations of Fusion 360 educational license especially with regards to CAM. Can I post process my code ? Can I use generative design ?

Let me know what can I not do.

With an educational license, you have full access to the product - Fusion 360 for education is identical to the commercial in almost every way with a couple of exclusions such as being restricted to noncommercial, education use in the case of an educational license. https://www.autodesk.co.uk/campaigns/education/fusion-360
