That's because you're using the Install Now option and the web installer (Install Now) it only used to install at that moment, that why it's called InstallNow.

That being said, you should never use it anyway because there's too many issues with it. Instead use the virtual agent as posted by @rkmcswain

From within Windows Explorer, show file extension and try the installer again. Keep in mind that the files from the download package should've extracted everything to C:\Autodesk\

I did try again

I downloaded the file from the agent:

AutoCAD_2016_English_Win_64bit_dlm.sfx it under the extension column it shows it as .exe

After it finished which took almost 45 or so with the firewall off and antivirus scan off.

I launched it by clicking the file. It appears to start running and asks about the destination folder c:\Autodesk\.

However, within seconds the same message download manager stopped working pops up again.

and it stops there.

Cory

[cid:426da419-fdb2-4a1c-af22-bdc6cd68c15d]

[cid:ea0c46c4-29e6-48bd-901e-4a349dba351f]

The file you should be executing is "AutoCAD_2016_English_Win_64bit_dlm.sfx.exe" (1,929,681 KB)

I'm not sure what those files are that have the "r1" string in the filename.

The extracted files should look like this when you're done extracting, but before the install.
