Missing serial number

I downloaded AutoCAD through my institution. During the install process, I was asked to enter a serial number. I don't have a serial number nor can I find one anywhere on my account. What should I do?

You should have an autodesk account. Go to manage.autodesk.com, log in and get your serial number. If you or your unnamed institution did not obtain AutoCAD via the Autodesk website, it may be a pirated copy.

The institution is the University of Alabama. Though possible, I find it
extremely unlikely that their copy was pirated. AutoCAD was one of the
software downloads available through students. I just created an Autodesk
account and selected it to download. I was given a license number (though
I don't know how to re-look it up on the Management tools. However, I
didn't see any sort of serial number.

On the help pages, it showed where you could select the icon of the
installed software to get the serial number. However, mine doesn't show up
yet since the install hasn't completed - can't without the serial number.

Check with your professor/instructor first. I suspect you missed reading some instructions.

I teach at Nash Community College, Rocky Mount, NC. I encourage my students to establish an Autodesk account using their student email by visiting students.autodesk.com.

Once you download AutoCAD, Autodesk will send you a serial number and product id by email, if you entered your email account correctly. I believe email verification is required for the process to complete. If the email from Autodesk went into your spam folder, look there and retrieve it. You should be able to log back into manage.autodesk.com with your student account and obtain the serial number and product code.

You should be able to completely install AutoCAD and use it for 30 days without a serial number or product id.

Here is a screencast. It is pretty straightforward. I'm surprised you have found it difficult.
