How to Reduce file size

Hello

The file containing the linear structures and terrain was too large to reduce the scope of the terrain and erased the rivers and buildings a bit.

However, the file capacity is still not reduced.
How can it be reduced?

Hi @BimPaul ,

an InfraWorks model is a database and it is possible to go back in time of the model. This means that the data sources are not really deleted if you remove them from a model.

There are limited "cleaning" functions such as removing large point cloud data, see

You might consider creating a new model and import an IMX version of your current model.

@Karsten.Saenger is it possible to identify what exactly contributes to the model size? I mean browsing in the model folder? I have deleted unnecessary proposals my model but it is huge. Well, yes I am recreating my model from scratch, but there is a hope to get some tips for further work. I assume that can be large rasters or models

Hi @9651820 ,

the InfraWorks model database keeps all data sources you have added in the history of the model.
Even if you deleted the data sources already or you removed proposals, the database still keeps them.

This approach is under discussion by the development team and the behavior might change in the future.

If you are sure you don't need specific data anymore, you can search for the files in the database folders and delete them manually from the "resources" folder.

One more question. When I switch to another proposal, data related to this proposal is loaded into Resources folder, so I can monitor the size of files. What happens when I delete a proposal? The related data is still somewhere in the database? Do I have to delete files from the Resource folder before I delete a proposal itself?

Hi @9651820 ,

as mentioned, the data sources will remain in the model database - also for proposals.
If you manually delete data, I suggest first deleting the proposal, then the files in the database.
