Model Builder has stopped saving Local

Hi, I started using Infraworks 2021 in March and I have been saving Model Builder tiles Locally on my laptop. However, recently when I use Model Builder it automatically generates it as a Cloud model and I do not have access to the Cloud (we don't currently have BIM 360).

I have checked through all my settings (folder paths etc) and cannot find a reason why Infraworks no longer gives me an option to save the tiles locally to the same folder my models were saved. Once the model appears in my Home Screen it wont open nor will it give me an option to change the location. The only options are 'Open Model' (which it cannot open) or 'Delete Model'.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Laura.Donaldson ,

in older InfraWorks versions you had to select the storage of a Model Builder model first (cloud or local).

The behavior was changed in more recent versions InfraWorks. Now the model data is prepared in the cloud.

Once you open the model, a dialog should appear to create the model locally or in the cloud. Then the data is downloaded and the model created.
In any case, if you don't have any BIM 360/Autodesk Docs connection, then you only get the local model creation option.

If the download and model creation doesn't work, it's very likely that you use a proxy server that blocks the connection to servers.
In that case please review the following knowledge base article:

Thank you. The dialogue option to create locally or in the cloud doesn't appear when I create in Model Builder.

We don't have any BIM 360/ Autodesk Docs connection but it still automatically creates them to Cloud and I cannot open them or change it to Local. However, until recently I had the option to do so.

I think it might be the proxy server issue then. Thanks, I will check with our IT department and see if it's something from that side.

Hi @Laura.Donaldson ,

it's interesting that the dialog doesn't appear at all. What version do you use exactly?

Is it possible to send the latest InfraWorks log file from path %appdata%\Autodesk\Autodesk InfraWorks\logs ?

If it's not a proxy server, maybe something on your system is blocking the dialog to appear?
Can you double check if it works with a full Windows Admin login?

I'm running version 21.2.15.0

Yes I have tried running with Windows Admin but still no joy unfortunately; I still don't get any dialogue box asking if I want to save it locally or no option once the cloud model appears in the home screen.

thanks for the log file. The error messages point to a faulty installation.

I suggest to cleanly un-install InfraWorks and re-install it with a local installation.
"Browser download" the installation files from you Autodesk Account first, then install.

The errors are also mentioned in this knowledge base article - you'll also find a link to instructions for how to do a clean un-install of InfraWorks:

Thank you Karsten. I tried a fresh installation on Friday but the problem still persisted. However, I followed the instructions you sent to ensure it was a clean un-installation and the info on the link you sent and it appears to now be working after another re-installation.
