Can open C3D files in Infraworks

I have Infraworks 2021, C3D 2021 installed on my machine. when i try to open Autodesk Civil 3D DWG i get the following error message :

* Unable to find the required Autodesk Civil 3D executable. Validate local installation of Autodesk Civil 3D 2021.

how can I validate the local installation of Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 so infrawork knows it there. any help would be appreciated

Are you sure you're using InfraWorks 2021?

If the versions of Civil 3D and InfraWorks match but the error message still appears, double check if Civil 3D is installed in an "unusual path" other than C: drive. Installing it on a standard location might solve the problem.

Try the following as an alternative:

Export data from Civil 3D in IMX format. See: To Import and Export IMX Files.
Import that IMX into InfraWorks. See: To import Autodesk IMX data.

yes using IW 2021. have C3D 2021 installed on same machine

have checked installation and all installed in correct locations. I have successfully done the IMX workaround but would like to get the C3D import working too

Can you go to Application Options, under General and then About, and provide a screenshot?

Hi @Anonymous ,

the issue can also be caused by version conflicts of updates.
Please make sure that InfraWorks and Civil 3D are installed with the latest updates or deployment settings with installations.

In some cases it helped to add a registry key with following commands:

set val="C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2020\\" 
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R23.1\ACAD-3000\Install" /V INSTALLDIR /T REG_SZ /D %val% /F
