topic Revit comes in white in Infraworks in InfraWorks Forum

I am trying to bring a Revit model of a building into Infraworks but it comes in white for some reason. I open data sources, choose Autodesk Revit, choose my Revit model, it imports and I configure it and it comes in white. I had brought the same file in before and it showed up fine. I can't understand why this is happening. Any advice? I attached an image of it in white and also of what it is supposed to look like.

Hi @JaredFBJPDR ,

if the Revit model used custom materials they will not be imported when you use the cloud import option for Revit files. This is because the textures aren't uploaded and the cloud doesn't know your custom materials.

You can try the "local Navsiworks import" option for your Revit file. This option can be set in the application options - Navisworks needs to be installed to use it.

Regards,

Karsten.

@Karsten.Saenger That definitely is the case, as our Revit model includes custom materials. I had gone into the application settings under Data Import and checked the 'Navisworks based Local Import' box, but it still came in white. A work around I have found is that I can create an nwd file from Navisworks where I can manipulate the appearance of my model. This acts as like a 3D screenshot which is great for aesthetic purposes, and when I want to update it in Infraworks I just save over the same nwd file and reimport in Infraworks. However, this workflow limits me to whatever appearances I can produce through Navisworks and is time consuming.
