I have a model with only one terrain surface created from a large 1 DEM GEOTIFF. When I export to IMX (or open the model from Civil 3D) I get two surfaces coming into Civil 3D.

Why is that?

Infraworks automatically creates surfaces for the roads that were made with model builder, even if you want them or not. I agree with Todd, it isn't very useful. I always delete it.
