I think it would be extremely nice and useful if the bridge model that we sketch in Infraworks may become a project with family etc in Revit!

I know it works with Inventor, but it would be almost extreme to know Revit, Infraworks, Inventor, Civil 3D & Navisworks! Even if I love them all!

I think that the possibility to export to Revit and Import from Revit the same bridge, being able to modify it as parametric will be one of the greatest thing of Infraworks!!

Thank you guys!

Nick

Hi Nicola

The latest version of InfraWorks 360 already supports the ability to create a Revit model by simply right clicking on a bridge in InfraWorks 360 and choosing the "Send to Revit" option. A Revit model is created on the fly, where the parametric Inventor based components are translated into Revit families.

In this first implementation, the user would need to go back to InfraWorks 360 to make changes to the Revit model parameters. Further refinements are planned in future releases.

Thank you Ara! I already saw that! And I truly think it is something amazing!

But there is something still missing in this workflow! It is not that easy to go back to the same model you exported from Infraworks!

I know it may just be something to wait for.

Thank you anyway!

Hi Nicola

At the moment, it is best to hold off sending the model to Revit until the bridge geometry is figured out in InfraWorks 360, especially if in Revit, rebar will be added etc. In a future release, the objective is to allow the Revit model to be updated from InfraWorks 360 (rather than completely recreated) as well as to allow for smaller changes to be made directly from within Revit.

Hi Nicola

While there are many aspects to the future bi-directional integration between InfraWorks and Revit, the next step we are investigating is the ability to update the Revit model when the user makes changes to the InfraWorks bridge model rather then creating a new Revit model. In this scenario, the user may have spent some time in Revit, adding rebar, creating sheets etc) and went back to the InfraWorks model to make adjustments to say, the station of a pier or for some of its dimensions. By simply updating the geometry of the bridge, we would maintain as much as possible, the user's prior work in Revit.

Oh that is super cool!! And what about the idenfitication of families? Because if we bring a model to Revit now, it gives you a n-digits combination for every piece. Do you think we would be able to get more about that!

Thank you Ara

I truly appreciate your time!

In the recent 2019.0 release of InfraWorks, we added the ability to update the Revit model after making changes in InfraWorks. Exposing the bridge/tunnel categories and parameters in the Revit UI is coming up next. As is the ability to leverage Revit's parts modeling feature on the DirectShape objects that are used for the bridge and tunnel components.

Hi, I have used the Infraworks to Revit workflow however, the elements that appear in Revit are not a family, they are components not even recognised by revit as a family therefore none of the items are modifiable, we can add rebar to the elements but can't modify them for detailed design, is this something I am doing wrong as I have followed all steps for creating an RVT file from Infraworks
