Component Roads Opacity

hi,

is there a way to change the opacity / transparency of a component road so i can show the utilities i have done below the ground?

Hi Erick-

You can change the material of the components in the road to a color then adjust the alpha to control the opacity. Once you have it setup the way you want you can add the components/assembly to you local library.

hi Seth,

im not sure if im doing it the right way, I can change the material to a color but can't seem to find a tool or button to adjust the transparency.

I have played and ventured around with IW360 and still no luck.

can you direct me (step by step if possible) to this process?

The transparency is kind of hidden. There's a spot to adjust "Alpha Channel". Change this from 0-255. 0 is completely transparent, 255 is completely solid. I usually with 50 and adjust from there. Good luck!

Unfortunately you cannot control the alpha of the materials, you have to select a color form the color palette:

thanks for the response guys. yeah I have trouble finding a way to modify a component road to make it transparent.

the only way for me to show it is to strip off the component of the actual road and retain the parking, kerbs and sidewalk and make an offset

from centerline and then replace the actual road with a transparent road.

I wish autodesk can incorporate a transparency material to any type of road, be it a design or component road.
