is there a way to print a hard copy of a terrain theme or export it so it can be inserted into civil 3d and then printed.

i need this for a client.

You could print a SNAPSHOT of the model with the terrain theme set which you could then bring into Civil 3D.

You could use the snapshot command to create the image, then insert that into Civil3D or other software to send to the printer. You could also use Windows Snipping Tool to grab a screenshot of the theme legend.

So @Eduardo.Soethe's reply brings up a good question... WHICH application has the most current surface? Did you create some rough surface in IW using some of the grading tools (land areas, roadside grading) or does C3D have the most current surface?

Either way, you've got a few options/solutions to work with.

after some playing around i figured out how to theme the terrain using the display manager in the planning and analysis workplace.

how do i tweak the color variations and also how do you insert the legend so it will print.

You can take a picture with a Snapshot, the other option is to take the surface to civil 3d and create a surface analysis (slope, elevation, runoff, etc.) or if it is something more detailed with the tools of planning and analysis create thematic map .
