So I made a Custom rural road with the classic Double line (although, I would think that would be a standard option.)

It looks great! All but the intersections where it gets all Wonky. Any suggestions on solving the issues? y.

You should just need to move your centerline striping to the median group. So your median group should have a yellow stripe - center strip - yellow stripe (you'll need a second one when you move it to the median group).

Hello, I recommend duplicating the material style and you can remove the line to that duplicate style and that you add it in the intersection option, it is in the screen where you can configure and you can search the lines at the intersections

These roads look like "sketch roads". Go to the Engineering View (or Edit mode); Select one of the roads; right click on the road and choose the Convert to Design Road option (do this on all legs) to see what happens at the intersection

.

Component roads will do somewhat of what you want but:

1. There are a lot of steps involved;

2. The yield line will be in white (I left it off);

3. I will have to come up with a tidy screen cast for this solution.

Another solution is to add a yellow stripe as a "decoration" but a "yellow stripe" decoration has to be created and added to the 3D model library first. I will work on that too and then make a screen cast or notes of that process.

It would be a huge help.

I can pull the intersection in 3ds Max and then make a model of what I want and then bring it back into Infraworks. Then Place it slightly above the original Intersection. That method works but isn't quick or clean since its slightly above the original.

Here is a "quick" Screen cast of one of several methods.

There are other methods; I tested another using 3D decorations of an FBX model sent to Infraworks from AutoCAD of a "white stripe" (not yellow) and it worked too but I did not have time to make a Screen cast of that operation. When i get some time, I will do that.

This method shown will work in the current version of Infraworks as well as any version supporting component roads.

Hi @Anonymous-

That screencast is great, and I am glad to hear that it helped resolve the issue at hand. Thanks @roskirko for the help and providing the solution!

That being said, I just want to make you aware of some potential unintended consequences when using Lane components for other purposes:

Superelevation. Lane and Shoulder components will superelevate (if turned on) regardless of placement and material change. When using components as not intended, I would suggest using a Sidewalk as it will not superelevate. I use this a lot in "greenspace" situations.

Analysis tools. The analysis tools will read these yellow stripes as extra lanes and will generate incorrect results.

Intersections will also be affected, depending on what components are used and where they are placed in the assembly. In the screencast for example, you will see the overlapping turn direction arrows. These appear because the intersection object is reading the stripes as incoming lanes. You can avoid that by turning off the Yield Lines after selecting the intersection.

I went into some detail on this subject in last week's webcast if you would like to learn more: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/infraworks-360/learn-explore/caas/video/youtube/watch-v-KKnnQId6k7U.html

Hope this helps!

I find it hard to believe that Infraworks at this stage of its development still can't produce road striping in a straight forward manner.

Same for continuous guardrail.

Come on development.

Hi @Anonymous

Judging from your screen shot, I would venture to guess that you are using a Lane component to create the yellow lines. Try using a Sidewalk component and see if that helps.

I would also suggest you reading my post earlier in this thread as I discuss the possible pitfalls of using components for lane striping.

Hope this helps.
