Hi All,

I have been following @dave.tyner 's tutorials on how to created animated people somewhat 'live' in the model but have hit a dead end with this.

Was wondering if anyone has manage to successfully to do this? The file dave shared seems to run and error when I export meaning the file can import into infraworks however is corrupted somewhat. It is specifically linked to the "Infraworks Character Exporter".

Have attached a screenshot of the error, any help would be appreciated and thanks again to Dave for sharing the information and files!

Thanks,

Scott Fleming

Scott - I'm not sure exactly what the problem might be. (It could be that Dave's file and tutorials were based on an older version of InfraWorks. I've reached out to him directly (not sure if he's in the office today) to see if he can help you out.

Hey Scott,

I've been browsing through Dave's GitHub project with some MaxScripts for animated wind turbines and characters, and it looks like his last update was in September 2015. As Sarah mentions, his files and scripts may simply be in need of an update, and we will have Dave get back to you. One last thing though, can you confirm where you are accessing the scripts/tutorials from? If there is a different repository that I am not aware of, I can look into that today.

Thanks,

Hi Elliot,

Thanks for getting back to me! I am accessing them from GitHub yes. Maybe that is the issue although I am on Infraworks 360 17.1.1 not the latest version however may still be ahead of the scripts!

If you could let me know what Dave says that would be great!

Kind Regards,

Scott

Edited by request
Discussion_Admin

Hi Scott, sorry this has been lingering so long!

When I follow the steps from this video, everything works as expected. Are you possibly doing anything in the middle or adding a step?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaTEVuMlu5E

edit: are you using my included Max file? Because it has some hidden stuff that is required by the script.

So use this file as your base file OR merge the included Max file into your IWX Max file. 🙂 HTH

Hi,

I too have been trying to use this but have been struggling..!

I managed to get the .dae into Infraworks (once I realised that my terrain was too steep initially causing it to fail on export..) but the people in infraworks are only blue & pink bare bones models..?

Regards.

Ross.
