Hi @Anonymous

most likely the issue is related to InfraWorks 2017.3 using a new FBX format version.

The current releases of AutoCAD are not able to read it.

Do you have a sample of the FBX file to test?

Thanks,

Is anyone else having issues with exporting the file as .FBX? It wont import into either Civil3D or Microstation, whereas other .FBX files I downloaded work fine.

Is there any way to download an older version of Infraworks that works?

Here is the sample exported from 2017.3.

How can I work around this? Is there a way to get Civil3D to read the new FBX format, or can InfraWorks somehow export it as an older format of FBX?

You could use 3ds Max to export to an older version of fbx

Edit: here is a previous version of the format

I will try downloading 3DS Max. Do you know if it can retain the same coordinate system when it gets processed in 3DS Max? I've never used the software before so am unsure of its capabilities.

Thanks!

Hi All,

for clarification, the FBX issue is existent since InfraWorks 2017.2.

A new FBX version was implemented into InfraWorks with that version. Unfortunately this version is not backward compatible, which means that current AutoCAD (vertical) applications are not able to read it.

The workaround in the moment is to use either:

3ds Max 2017 or

Navisworks 2017

to convert the FBX into an older FBX version.

Regards,

Karsten.

Both workaround lead to useless results:

The exported fbx-file from Naviswork shows the Terrain-Raster data mirrored

The exported 3d-Max file has incorrect scaling in the material settings, any attempt to change the scaling crashes Civil 3D

The first bug exist since long time and got never fixed. There is also no fix in Civile 3D 2018. Disappointing.
