Revit for parametric Bridge Girder and Generic models

Hello good people.

Can I use Revit families to create Parametric girders and generic models for use in Infraworks, so far Ive used revit families to create parametric Infraworks piers and foundations, I will really appreciate your answers, thanks

Yes, it is possible! In the other thread, I mentioned the girders. Now, about generic models importation based on Revit Families or Inventor files.

I suggest this AU 2019 class from Steve Hill: https://www.autodesk.com/autodesk-university/class/Creating-Custom-Parametric-Content-Use-InfraWorks-Instructional-Demo-2019.

I really appreciate your answer, it means a lot to me sir, let me ask you something, how can I edit or how can I make the parametric girders to be haunch, along it's longitudinal length, to make it have a curve like look, or this is a feature only available in steel girders options of bridge?

hallo, I watched the two videos, and I didnt see one where the presenter modelled a bridge girder in either revit or inventor, I needed to know how I can make my girders to have hauch/arch like curve along the longitudinal length

Hi, @oliverkisera!

I believe it is better that you use a generic component for this. The girders are restricted to the cross-section dimensions, you can set one girder and reduce its dimensions to very small values and add generic objects representing the arches.

The arch in the AU class was modeled in Inventor, but you can model it in Revit and import into InfraWorks as a generic object.

I've tried even using structural template families but when I get to Infraworks to import the created girders, I can't find girders in the drop down in the component types, I can just see piers, foundations, and the rest but not girder,

what do you mean by beam family, is it different from structural framing family, I cant see beam families, instead I see structural framing families, Ive tried countless times using structural framing family template to make bridge girders but even when I do so, when i try importing the revit created girder into Infraworks, I cant see girder option in the component type while importing, Im using Versions 2023 of both revit and Infraworks, a friend replied to another post of mine and said that only Revit 2024 can allow creating bridge girder as families and importing into Infraworks, I just want to know if im forcing Revit 2023 to create girders, if its so, then Ive been wasting my time with Revit 2023 and instead should download and install Revit 2024 if I want to create parametric bridge girdres for use in Infraworks, let me know your comments, thanks
