Hi all,

First off, very cool product, I'm excited to try it out to see how it works. We are a subcontractor who often supplies architects and GCs with fabricated glulam and timber material that is fabricated off-site and delivered to the job site. We are working on creating a portfolio of standardized components and this looks like it could help us quite a bit. One thing that looks like it might be a roadblock is trying to have external customers access and use components we create on the Inventor side. The demos make it look like you both need access to the same Autodesk Doc account to share this data. Is that correct or am I missing something? What would be the best way of allowing external customers to download and use our standard designs?

Thanks,
Kyle

Hi @kylegT2ZZF,

Thank you for showing interest in our product. We're thrilled to hear about your plans and look forward to your feedback.

To clarify your query, here's the typical workflow: As a product manufacturer, you'll create your content in Inventor. Using our Informed Design, you can then publish these product definitions through our cloud Web Application, which is currently linked to Autodesk Docs/BIM 360 Docs. You can set a location, such as a Doc’s folder, to publish to.

The designer (architect, engineer, contractor, etc.) can then generate the required product variants and incorporate them into their Revit design models. However, both parties will need access to the same Autodesk Docs project to which the products have been published.

Please note that when a Revit family is generated using the Informed Design tools, it is not inserted in the same way as a typical Revit family. Users will use the Informed Design tools to insert or edit, thus maintaining the design constraints set by the product manufacturer.

We hope this clarifies your question. If you have any further queries, feel free to ask.

Regards,

Yes and no, it works for now but what I really want is to be able to publish to Content Catalog. 🙂
