Hi,

I'm currently testing Informed Designed and I'm psyched for its potential. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to get very far. In Inventor, on creating a new product definition I'm getting the following error messages:

On the Parameters tab:

<LI-CODE lang="general">failed to get Part or Assemlby properties</LI-CODE>

On the Source Content tab:

<LI-CODE lang="general">Failed to Fetch Thumbnail</LI-CODE>

I've tested with my own design, as well as the Staircase sample design. Both results are the same.

Does anyone have an idea as to what I might be doing incorrectly? I'm running Inventor 2024.1.1 on Windows 11, Informed design add-in version 1.1.0.0.

Kind regards

Hi @Cursist-101,

It is great to here you have installed Informed Design and looking forward to getting to grips with it, but sorry you having a few issues right now.

Firstly, can I point you to one of our Inventor articles that may help you Inventor Workflow tips HERE.
I am not sure if this is the root cause of your issues but please make sure you have a single root folder and it is saved to your local drive (ie. C drive) and not on the web. Also all the files are saved within and not elsewhere.

I will raise this with our product team and come back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for your patience.

Hi Gareth!

Thank you for your reply! I went through the list and all seems in order. Initially I didn't use the latest version of Inventor (2024.1 instead of 2024.2), unfortunately an update did not make a difference.

My ACC-account is on a EU-server, though is seems that I've activated a demo on a US-server as well. Maybe this is related to the issue, I'll need to investigate further.

We don't currently support Informed Design on the EU server.

Can you just clarify is this issue when you are working inside Inventor or when you are trying to insert a product into Revit?

Where did you save your root folder? It doesn't seem to be stored on your local drive. Please remember that it's crucial to save the root folder on your local drive (e.g. C: drive). It should not be saved on a server or a folder that points to a web location.

Can I ask refer to this post on Inventor Workflows that we have written HERE.

I think I figured mine out. I had a couple of parameters that I had changed their units to ul but hadn't updated the equation still had an value in "in". This seems to cause Informed design to fail, once I fixed those parameters it works.
