topic HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE YOUR TOOLS? in HSM Support Forum

Hey all. Pretty new to HSM here.

So, I have a handful of physical tools. I want to have speeds and feeds for them in different materials. So for T1, there would be T1-plastic, T1-aluminum, T1-steel. Do you duplicate these into a separate folder and how to you keep them straight?

Can you call two of these tools in the same program? meaning, do one toolpath with one set of settings, and another with a different set, but both are on T1? I suppose the same logic could apply to rough and finishing passes.

Any pointers would be helpful. I'm getting setting up my library so would like to find a smart way to set things up.

Thanks

Hi CosmosK, I make separate tool libraries for each of the material groups using the speeds and feeds for channel cutting. For us channel cutting is the slowest speeds and feeds for that tool. From there I make material based templates for the operations each tool will be used for.

Yes tools can have multiple speeds and feeds in the same program. In the tool library for the part it will add a duplicate tool and turn the color of those tools orange.

Good Luck,

Jason
