I've been having an issue lately with HSMXpress. I have a SolidWorks assembly with another assembly in it. In the larger assembly I have 7 CNC operations in it. If I'm in the CAM tree tab and move anything on the model HSMXpress pops up with two windows around 20 times each! The first one says "Operations have been invalidated due to changes in the model. Regenerate now? " and "The model has been modified and requires a rebuild. Rebuild now?". This happens even if I move something unrelated to the tool paths.

If I am on the feature tree tab I don't get this message.

I'm using SW2017 X64 SP 3.0 and HSMXpress 2018 R3.42596

Is there any way I to stop this from happening?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi @rothmetalworks,

What you mean is: you have programmed some part within a Assembly.

After made some changes on the assembly “Knowing there is nothing changed on the programmed model” (part isn’t changed or moved) the toolpaths have to be regeneraties.

This is normal. HSM detect a change. You can set the toolpaths to protect (right mouse click on toolpath -> protect) before making changes in your Assembly.

But still I advice to regenerate before posting your NC.

Not really. I understand that it needs to regenerate, but I'd rather it just invalidated the toolpath so I have to regenerate it myself rather than taking several minutes and a dozen or more mouse clicks any time I make a change.

Because I understand what you are experiencing but it's tricky to explain to people the difference between the two edits and why one of them is very annoying due to the pop-ups.

Attached is a video of it. For some reason it didn't capture the pop-ups, but every time the mouse arrow comes back I'm clicking OK on one of the windows. It takes almost 2 minutes to get thru it.

well you need to tell us your using configurations first, you also need to protect the operation once you're done with a config.

then the toolpathes won't be rebuilt causing the long delay. another trick say no\cancel and it will stop or turn off automatic regeneration.

I looked at your configs and the last one is the only OK one the other are blown up

Similar to the OP, I just want to know where I can disable any message such as this one. I do not need for HSMWorks to tell me the model is invalidated with every little change made. I generate toolpaths and/or rebuild when it is necessary and not any sooner.

Merely clicking "no" does not do the trick. That popup shows up every time. It's annoying and gobbles up resources.

That's all well and good. Thanks for sharing that.

But still...is there not a way in prefs (or similar) to turn any of the notifications off? "Protected" just seems like a work around. Maybe an entirely different reason why you'd use it altogether.

It would be nice if the pop up box had a tick box that merely said "do not show again". Common with most popups.

Thoughts?

sorry to say it's been this way since before Autodesk bought HSMWorks.

just give it a try and before you know it it will part of your daily programming norm, I love it.

I can control when I need to regen the toolpath, how many time have you had to change or suppress or make a config to simplify the part to make it machine better, those simple things may not need to have the roughing toolpath changed so I protect them and for get about them cause there done.

I B I T C H E D too then started to use and it makes life so much simpler now.

I know it's been that way for many years...but I just decided to say something about it now. 🙂

I'll give it a try as you suggest. Just the older I get, it gets harder to adapt even small changes in workflow. 🙂

Thanks for the input.

DUD I'm 57 and the older I get I am finally just doing what they say so I can go home earlier and ride the Harley 😉

lol I kind of figured that by the "62" in your user name. Well, you're blazing the trail for me by 5 years! I don't get to go home early to ride any Harley...but I do get to jam to Dubstep on a daily basis. 🙂

Thanks again for your input brother.
